"V" Is For Vices

I can't confess that I have any vices in the moral fault category.  I am just awaiting my sainthood.  But I have a few trivial faults.  I know.  I know.  When you meet me (and read me online) you wouldn't believe it.  I'm just so cute, squishy, and lovable.
Easiest to make a list:

  1. I stereotype girls who wear bobby pins.  And the bobby pins show.  I don't know what the stereotype is besides "Girls I Generally Will Not Like."  I get the use of the bobby pin.  And I have one (of my three) hair styles that requires 2 bobby pins.  But they are hidden and discreet.  I don't have 38 bobby pins holding my bangs back or my ponytail up.
  2. I never say, "Thanks, you too" when someone tells me to have a good day.  Normally a cashier or a bank teller.  I, rudely, respond with an "I will"  or just the plain "thank you."  And I always walk away feeling like less of a good citizen.
  3. I can't read a "dragon book" or a "learning book."  I think dragon books are more officially called fantasy?  Or nerdy?  Ken just bought the Game of Thrones series to read.  He's never read any dragon books either but is overly excited to read it.  I just shake my head... not the man I married.  And as far as learning books- phst.  Nonfiction is not my thing.  I read a ton of nonfiction in college and I feel set for life.  I occasionally read an excerpt from The Intellectual Devotional and feel smarter.  I just hate being quizzed on it when I tell someone I read about Socrates or The Amish or sections of the heart or The Panama Canal.  My memory isn't what it was when I was younger.
  4. I feel extra pretty and become slightly cocky when I am wearing dangle-y earrings and makeup.  Unless I am tan.  (Then I feel super-glam without makeup.)  And the last time I was tan was in 2004.
  5. I wait by the window for the mailman.

I love sweets. That's my main vice.

Joshua- I always am saying, "I have the worst... sweet tooth." People always think I'll say head ache or cramps or something. Sweet tooth is a nice surprise.

I don't understand the "unless I am tan" part. Don't you feel even MORE pretty and cocky when tan? Just me?? The waiting for the mailman was my favorite. So funny! .... (so true) :)

Chris Loves Julia- I feel prettier when I am tan even if I am not wearing makeup.

Hahahaha!! I'm sooooooo surprised that Ken is reading fiction at all, much less FANTASY. That is amazing. Good for him. Branching out. I'm the opposite of you right now - kind of hating fiction and loving non-fiction. But it has to be INTERESTING non-fiction. Panama canal? Not interesting. (To me.)

AW! You wait by the window for me????

I feel so.... special.

My vices... refined sugar. OH and I must have a shower EVERY day. It's better than caffeine for me.

OH, and I can only eat Tums if they are the same color/flavor. Wait... that's not a vice that's just weird. Never mind.

I have two addictions: reading and eating unhealthy food. They happen together when the kids are at school or asleep. I can't stop. I must stop.

I'm not a big fan of sci-fi, but Game of Thrones (books one and three especially) are addictive. Fascinating characters. I thought I'd hate nonfiction, but sometimes a good biography can suck you in. Andre Aggasi's Open was excellent.

My vice is "dragon books." I can't put down a good fantasy novel. I find chick lit at waste of my time.
Glad to find you on a to z.

Love your blog. Just discovered as I'm in the last throes of A to Z...Mind if I steal the "XX People Made My Day"? A nice thought. Vices. Hmmm. Like you, awaiting sainthood. Probably the worst vice is saying "yes" when I really mean "I need to think about that"....:-) OH, and I use way too many ":-)'s" and "LOLs" when I write...
